There’s nothing more exciting than working with a brand that you wish was your own. You know, one that makes your heart flutter and has you daydreaming design ideas at 3am. This was one of those projects – a total barefoot bohemian dream.

Jessica reached out to me to rebrand her wedding and event planning company located at the gates of Yosemite National Park. Specializing in nature-immersive weddings and elopements, she wanted a light, airy, natural and “California boho” vibe to attract her dream clients.

As someone who eloped myself, I immediately fell in love with the business. I only wish I was in the Yosemite area when I eloped so Jessica could plan it for me.

The inspiration

The inspiration for the brand was a barefoot bohemian, free-spirited feel with a touch of adventure and lots of natural motifs. I wanted to keep it light and airy (pampas grass, anyone?) with a neutral color palette reminiscent of Yosemite hues – sienna red, shades of earthy tan, and dark pine greens against the ivory white of a wedding dress. Here’s the mood we came up with:

The logo design

With our inspiration and color palette decided, we moved into logo designs. I wanted to add a bit of an adventurous and whimsical feel while maintaining the essence of the outdoor nature of the brand.

The brand design

We ended up going with concept #2 because of the arrow motif, doubling in meaning as Cupid’s arrow of love and that of adventure, exploration and purpose.

For the typography, we chose a luxurious and slightly vintage-inspired combination of Clearface for headers, Sackers Gothic for subheaders & accent, and feminine Calluna Sans for body/copy. To add a custom touch, we recommended Canari for some handwritten elements to be used sparingly in the designs.

We then crafted a signature dot pattern that embodies the “California Boho” vibe we were aiming for, working perfectly as a border element and a background in multiple color combinations. Along with the pattern, adding some sketched leaves brought a personal touch to the nature theme.

The culmination of all this hard work was the beautiful, completely custom website that we designed and developed.

The final result is probably one of my top 3 designs of all time (I promise I don’t just say that about any design!) because I just love this look so much!

And there you have it! Keep scrolling for the eye candy 😉
